Introduction to NU Instruments

Founded in 1995, Nu Instruments are an innovative manufacturer and market leader of analytical equipment. They successfully joined Ametek Group in 2016. They carry out the design, assembly and testing from their head office in Wrexham, North Wales, and install to academia, governmental and industrial research labs across the globe.

Why did they
need Delve?

Due to growth, Nu Instruments had a number of positions, across multiple departments, where they wanted to bring in experienced people who would be a good fit for their business.

They had previously used other recruitment companies but were struggling to fill the roles, so they came to us with the knowledge that we specialise within the engineering sector.

They engaged Delve to work closely and consult with them, to support hiring new talent into the business.

The Delve solution

Before beginning any recruitment project, Delve always arrange a meeting with the hiring manager and all decision makers involved in the process. We scheduled in time with the NU Instruments hiring managers in the first instance in order to understand the brief and exactly what they were looking for.

After speaking with them, we agreed to work on a contingent basis to fill various positions, as it was the most appropriate service for the specific roles. Regular contact was maintained throughout the recruitment process and this helped to main good relationships.

We have long standing connections within NU Instruments and have visited their site to get a real understanding of the company’s people, environment and culture.

This greater understanding helps us to identify and approach candidates that would be a good fit for NU Instruments, and also enables us give candidates a good feel for the company.

Identifying the candidate

Our search campaign focused on identifying and approaching passive and active candidates with relevant skills and experience to make sure we were capturing as many relevant options as possible.

This included reaching out to people who may not be looking for a new role as well as managing the advert response from people actively interested.

We then interviewed and short-listed candidates that met the agreed criteria, focussing on the candidates fit to NU Instruments.

We presented our short-list to the
hiring managers along with a detailed cover sheet outlining our interview findings including why they fit, potential concerns and salary requirements.

We discussed each candidate with regards to their motivations and aspirations to make sure the fit was right and that they were considering the position for the right reasons. This approach pro-actively prevents situations such as rejected offers and counteroffers.

We worked closely with the hiring managers to review the profiles and from here we consulted on interview strategy, feedback, offer process and salary negotiations in order to ensure all stages were successful, and that all parties were communicated with and satisfied.

We have successfully sourced multiple roles for various departments including Test and Installation, Marketing, Electronic Design, Production and Purchasing.

Due to this, we were referred by HR to another company within the Ametek Group and successfully placed a Project Manager into a role they were struggling to fill.
