Introduction to EG Electronics

EG Electronics are a multinational company based in Sweden with a number of different business units spread across countries in Europe including Germany and the UK. Their core business is the distribution of electronics equipment and systems across industrial, telecoms, medical and digital signage.

The group has experienced both organic growth and has expanded via acquisitions which they were looking to develop. They generally have good recruitment links within Sweden and use a mixture of their own advertising and local recruiters.

Why did they
need Delve?

EG Electronics felt that they had little experience of working on an international basis and that their existing networks were insufficient, so they wanted to engage Delve in order to reach the best candidates in the local markets where they were looking. The director contacted Delve based on a recommendation from a mutual industry contact who had worked with us previously.

The aim was to replace the existing General Manager, who was due to retire, with an experienced professional who could develop sales within the business and lead the business unit to positive growth in profit. This person could have either been an existing General Manager or a senior sales professional looking for the next step in their career.

Recruiting for this role was challenging as it involved leading a small business unit and was very hands on with regards to sales, therefore the position wasn’t as appealing to experienced managers. In recognition of this EG Electronics were open to more junior candidates which meant we would need to conduct a wider search to find candidates as the brief was open. There were also time constraints so it was important that we had a strategy in order to meet agreed deadlines.

Our solution

We met with the Director and CEO in order to understand the challenge and exactly what they were looking for. We then put in place a targeted search campaign which focused on finding candidates from relevant backgrounds at the desired level with the right attitude to take on the challenge. We put in place a candidate approach pack which included information on EG Electronics, the business unit, the market and the position. This was used when Delve approached candidates in order to fully engage them and to ensure that the brief was clear.

Our search campaign focused on identifying and approaching active candidates, those looking for opportunities, and passive candidates, those open to opportunities but not actively applying to jobs, with relevant skills and experience working with similar or transferable technology. Here we were focusing on candidates looking to take a step up into a General Manager role who already had some management experience, for example as a sales manager.

Knowing our clients

Initially we mapped the local, national and international markets where we identified potential candidates. This allowed us to proactively engage the candidates via direct approach, social media and referrals in order to engange as many candidates as possible.

With the hiring managers being out of country, we used our video interviewing platform in order to provide video introductions along with the candidates’ CVs and profiles. This enabled the client to see the candidates and get an indication of how they came across in the first instance. The clients specified three questions to ask the candidates for the introduction to make it relevant to the position.

Identifying the candidate

We discussed each candidate in detail with regards to their motivations and aspirations to make sure the fit was right and that they were moving for the right reasons. This approach proactively prevents situations such as rejected offers and counteroffers.

We then worked closely with the hiring managers to review the profiles and generate a shortlist. From here we consulted on interview strategy, feedback, and offer process in order to make sure all stages were successful, and all parties were communicated with and happy.  

Results and ongoing success

Using our targeted search solution we were able to provide suitable candidates for the role within the agreed time period.  

We made some changes to our recruitment process along the way as the client wanted to include criminal record checks and psychometric profiling, this was quickly incorporated into the process.

We have received excellent feedback from the client and they would be happy to use us on future international positions.
